Viva musica Latina

Cuba and Puerto Rico were twin colonies of Spain until 1898, and with this came Puerto Rico’s shared love of Cuban music. Although Salsa originated in Cuba, the uprising of the 1950s and the nasty U.S.A. Embargo on the island made it difficult for Cubans to export Salsa across its borders. Salsa’s success was mostly because of Puerto Ricans who immigrated to New York that it caught the world’s attention.
Salsa’s roots are in the Afro-Hispanic musical traditions of Cuba, but Salsa comes in many flavours and has been influenced by a number of Hispanic musical styles as the Rhumba, Guaracha, Mambo, Cha Cha, Merengue, Guajira, Charanga, Cumbia and other music as Funk and Disco etc. A dailyleftover would not be complete if not include all those great interpretations of Latin music and more as we are only here to enjoy the music and not so try to define it all ... so here viva1 and viva02 [reup2012] dailyleftover
